When someone decides to put bar stools into their environment it’s almost impossible to avoid one critical decision. What’s that you ask? The burning question is do you want backless stools or ones that have a back. This may sound like a simple and even silly question to have to worry about but there are some critical things that you must remember about this decision.
If you’re buying stools primarily to add to the look of the room then backless barstools can be used anywhere in your environment. If these stools are going to be used a lot then you have to weigh your options.
Backless bar stools are almost always lighter than stools that have seatbacks. This can be a big advantage to any setting but more so in a business environment such as a restaurant, salon etc. It will make it easier for the customers to move the stools. This is really a big deal for the elderly, younger children, handicapped and injured patrons. It may be harder for them to move the bigger, heavier stools with seatbacks.
Another thing you must think about is the amount of space you have available. Are you very limited in terms of space or do you have more than enough. Backless bar stools come in real handy in tight or awkward spaces. They can fit into tight areas or under counter tops so they’re not in the way. You can just pull them out when you need them and then hide them back under the counter when you’re finished.
These stools also make it easier to move around. Since you want your family in your home and customers at your business to have the freedom to socialize and talk to everyone around them backless stools work great. You can really kick this idea up a notch by adding swivels to you stools and really spoiling your guests.
Some of the negative things about stools without seatbacks are
that they can cause back pain. If you have sit on one for more than a few minutes
you will start to notice discomfort in your lower back. This is because we as
people have been spoiled with something supportive to lean back against on our
regular chairs. It makes it hard to go without this support for longer periods
of time without feeling uncomfortable or even pain.
One other thing to remember about back less bar stools is that
there isn’t much character to them. They’re all very plain looking.
If you want a simple and clean look then they’ll look great, but if you
want to add some pizzazz to the room as most people do then they won’t
usually do the trick.
